So there's this song on the radio that I like. The first time I heard it, I liked the beat and the song and even the girl's English accent. Pretty good song, I thought.
The second time I heard the song, I listened to the words. And the song is actually pretty rotten. It's almost an homage to the materialistic world we live in right now. But tell me you don't think it's a catchy tune?
What gets even worse is that this is the clean version. The explicit version would be rated PG-13 for two F words... pushing rated R... So now I feel even worse liking the song. But I don't think I'll stop liking it. At least I know the lyrics are bad... right? " I wanna be rich and I wanna be famous..."

sometimes we like naughty songs. it's not the end of the world.
It is a catchy tune. I guess we should be better at avoiding evil, and not rationalizing it, but I would have to get rid of most of my music, movies, and stop watching t.v. completely. I guess I'm choosing to be led "carefully down to hell". Okay, I have to stop now and go repent. Love ya!
It is catchy. But, not as catchy as "Gives You Hell" by the All-American Rejects, which is MY latest guilty pleasure. I sing it at the top of my lungs every time it comes on the radio, probably making me a bad person. I just love it's flavor of vindictiveness, though. I think it's hysterical.
I like the song. It's about a 3.5/5 for me. Also, I am pretty sure she is poking fun at celebrities, especially those reality celebrities like Paris Hilton and anyone with the last name Kardashian. Do you like her song, "Smile" ?
Hayley - definitely not the end of the world. Cherry Lip Balm comes to mind :) love you!
Em - there are TONS of things I'd have to throw away, too!
Haley - the All American Rejects are awesome. They've got quite a few fun, vindictive songs.
Jared - I couldn't ever decide if she was making fun of celebrity in general or promoting the "weapon of massive consumption" lifestyle. Makes me feel better to think she's making fun of Paris Hilton. And I'll have to give "Smile" a listen...
Here's my rule: When in doubt, if they are British, they are probably being sarcastic (aka cheeky). :)
I have never heard it.
I am lame.
But now I wanna listen.
And likey.
Cause I like naughty.
