It's the happiest day of the year!!!

Ok, maybe that's a stretch, but it's still exciting! For me, at least... it's National Punctuation Day. Who knew there was such a day, right? My mom actually sent the link, and it's pretty cool. If only I had known earlier! I might have been able to participate in the First National Punctuation Day Baking Contest! (Seriously. It's a real thing.) Now, if there was a National Punctuation Day Painting Contest, I think Hayley and I would have totally won... except that our painting had absolutely nothing to do with punctuation... but we used correct grammar while painting, with complete sentences like, "I freakin' love this color!" (While it is slang, the proper punctuation when ending an -ING word with the letter N is to replace the G with an apostrophe. Don't believe me? Check this out.)

If you'd like to learn more about my favorite punctuation mark, click here. You can also visit the home page and learn all about ellipses (not an instance when the moon moves in front of the sun, by the way), commas, brackets, question marks, semicolons, and more!

Ok, I'm a big dork. But I think it's pretty awesome there's a national day for punctuation.

I love you man. Not quite like your wife loves you. More like a brotherly love. I brotherly-love love you.

Garrett,
I'm so pleased that this love of yours sets you apart from anyone else I know. I love that you love punctuation...it's what makes the writing world go round.

That is awesome and I am so glad that you could find out about such an event but stinky pete you had to miss that baking contest!!!

I heart the ellipses myself. They just really take the point across well!

Robin - I love that your favorite punctuation mark "by far" is the period. I love that other people feel as strongly about their favorites as I do.

Jason - I brotherly-love love you, too.

Beth - Yes, yes it does.

Katey - I guess there's always next year for the baking contest. and I'm a big fan of ellipses, too!

garrett - you're silly & i love you for it. i love that when you blogged about this last night you were sorta embarressed/nervous.

i think there outta be more national holidays for things. and i love that you don't mind that i don't capitalize on my blog, even though that is a very important part of grammar. maybe deep down you want to strangle me in the night.

leon. watch the love.

If only I would have know about this last Thursday! I would have taught a special punctuation lesson in my classes. My personal favorite is the question mark. There's nothing like a well worded question from a nonnative English speaker. (Something I rarely get to hear!)
